Notes from the Executive Officers
After two years of an online-only conference, we are excited to get back to an in-person conference this year in Costa Rica! We are overwhelmed at the registration that already has 240 people who will be joining us in San Jose, Costa Rica this June 26-29. Due to the generosity of our members and the success of last year’s online conference, we were able to offer scholarships to 24 student members and 7 professional members.
The IASNR communications team has been working to expand IASNR’s social media presence. To that end, we recruited two student volunteer social media coordinators to help expand IASNR’s profile and to provide more rapid sharing of information, ideas, and news within the existing IASNR community.
Get to Know the IASNR Committeess
IASNR operates through standing and ad hoc committees. Members on standing or ad hoc Committees can be drawn from the Council or the membership at large. Each committee includes a Council member as committee chair or co-chair. Currently, one IASNR Executive Officer serves on each committee as a team liaison to provide support and guidance as needed.

Election Committee Updates
IASNR had a successful election this year with a competitive slate of candidates. Our new IASNR Council representatives will be officially joining in January 2023 and the Student Representative-Elect will begin in June 2022. We look forward to working with our new Council members and thank you all who participated in the election!
The International Association of Society and Natural Resources (IASNR) provides unique professional development, publishing, and conferencing opportunities to students, scientists, and managers from around the world working at the interface between society and the environment. Our professional development work focuses on students and professionals with active Facebook and Twitter accounts that help you keep on top of current events, opportunities, issues, and publications. Our activities also include webinars, mentoring, and networking events.
We publish the journal Society & Natural Resources (SNR) through publisher Taylor & Francis. Our Society and Natural Resources Book Series and Press publishes books through our University Press of Colorado consortium. The annual IASNR Conference, (previously known as ISSRM), moves around the world linking students, managers, and scientists through research and practice.
Most of IASNR’s operating budget comes from membership fees. You can support IASNR to continue to provide and expand IASNR activities by renewing your IASNR membership for 2021, even if you don’t plan on attending the conference. You can also help us by recruiting new members. We are eager to expand our membership of scholars and practitioners working in the public, private, and non-profit sectors . Who do you know who might enjoy IASNR? Thank you in advance for renewing!
There’s still time to purchase or renew your IASNR membership for 2022! Our connections with each other also help sustain us through challenging professional and personal times. We would love to see you purchase membership for 2022.
