Session Abstract
While originally coined in the 1980s, regenerative agriculture has seen a resurgence in use in agricultural programs aimed at promoting pro-environmental agricultural practices such as cover crops, nitrogen management, and rotational grazing. However, the definition of regenerative agriculture varies among researchers, policymakers, and farmers leading to ongoing discourses about what should be included in regenerative agricultural programs, what factors should be considered in its success and outcomes, and how to evaluate it. Pulling together research from the United States, Canada, and Australia our organized paper session examines various regenerative agricultural initiatives and the decisions they made regarding the development, implementation, and monitoring of regenerative agriculture programs as well as pushes us to reconsider what factors we should be including in discourses and assessments around regenerative agriculture. This session will delve into innovative considerations for examining regenerative agriculture including well-being, relational values, resilience, and biodiversity.
