The International Association for Society and Natural Resources (IASNR) is soliciting candidates for co-editorships of Society & Natural Resources (SNR), the official journal of the organization. SNR is the premier international journal publishing cutting edge social science research that advances understanding of the interaction between society and natural resources.
SNR is managed by two Co-editors. Applicants may apply as individuals, in which case the editorial search committee can work with them to identify a potential co-chair, or applicants may also coordinate with a person of their choosing to submit a Co-editor application. As an international journal and association, applicants from all regions are encouraged to apply.
The term for the Co-editors is three years and the new Co-editors will be responsible for Volumes 34-36 (2021-2023) of SNR. Specifically, the Co-editors will assume lead responsibility for Volume 34 (2021) of SNR, commencing on July 1, 2020. The current co-editors (Linda Prokopy and Tasos Hovardas) are willing to remain involved during a six-month transition period, through December 31, 2020, to ensure a smooth transition.
The Co-editors will be assisted by SNR’s Editorial Assistant. They will also receive a modest stipend and support for travel to the annual International Symposium on Society and Resource Management (ISSRM) conference where the annual SNR Editorial Board meeting takes place.
Please contact editorial search committee co-chair Kathleen E. Halvorsen ([email protected]) to express interest in the position by October 15th, 2019. If you have questions about the position, you are welcome to contact editorial search committee co-chairs, Kathleen E Halvorsen (+1.906.487.3098, [email protected]) or Tasos Hovardas (+35.796707360, [email protected]); as well as current co-editor, Linda Prokopy (+1.765.496.2221, [email protected]).
The editorial search committee will review applications and make recommendations regarding candidates to the IASNR Council, which will make a final decision regarding candidate selection in consultation with Taylor & Francis (SNR publisher).
Interested candidate(s) should submit a) a copy of their vitae, b) a detailed statement about their vision for the journal, c) their plan for organizing editorial operations and their relevant experience, and d) a letter or letters (addressing the IASNR) from responsible administrator(s) confirming the availability of the candidate to serve this term and, if available any forms of institutional support (e.g. release from a portion of their teaching, service, or research duties).
