The Integrating Human and Natural Systems Work Unit (SRS-4952) is recruiting a permanent Research Social Scientist or Research Forester. The position will be hired at the GS-12 grade (salary range $83,755/yr to $108,886/yr), including standard Federal benefits. The duty station is the Forestry Sciences Laboratory in Athens, Georgia.

The Integrating Human and Natural Systems Work Unit operates within the Center for Forest Assessment and Synthesis of the USDA Forest Service, Southern Research Station. The Unit explores four problem areas using social and socio-ecological approaches:

  • healthy forests and human well-being;
  • outdoor recreation and tourism;
  • changing land use and human health; and
  • socio-cultural characteristics and natural resource engagement.
