The Wilderness Institute (WI) of the W.A. Franke College of Forestry & Conservation invites applications for the position of Director of Undergraduate and Field Education. This position is responsible for managing the Wilderness and Civilization program (W&C), as well as the Wilderness Studies Minor.
Job Description
Key duties include:
- Instruction of field and classroom-based courses in the W&C program, as well as stand-alone classes
- Support success of students enrolled in Wilderness Lecture Series
- Development and supervision of field courses during the academic year and summer session, including hiring and supervision of temporary field instructors
- Plan and implement annual student recruiting
- Provide high-quality student mentoring and advising
- Develop annual course and program budgets
- Annually update and continuously implement the Risk Management Plan
- Contribute to W&C alumni and donor stewardship
- Support Wilderness Institute communications and development and development
- Represent the Wilderness Institute and partner with Campus Recreation in the planning and implementation of the Freshman Wilderness Experience orientation program
- Other academic and administrative duties as needed
